Date

We were really fortunate to see the thrilling showjumping action at the South Africa Showjumping Event, where the country’s best young riders and horses will participate.

“The eagerly awaited SA Youth Championships 2023, proudly sponsored by Western Shoppe, which was held on June 28 to July 2, 2023, and is proudly announced by SA Show Jumping in partnership with Kyalami Park Club. Talented athletes from South Africa’s numerous regions will flock to this famous national competition to display their talents in the enthralling sports of Equitation, Dressage, Eventing, Showing, and Show Jumping. The SA Youth Championships, which will took place at the Kyalami Park Club, one of Gauteng’s top horse show venues, offer an exhilarating display of equestrian brilliance and a celebration of the nation’s young riding ability.

I must admit that it was the first time for me, my family, and friends, but we quickly became engrossed in the game, especially while sat at a picnic table with all the kids’ needs taken care of – from facepainting, arts and crafts to indivial picnic boxes with stuffed toys for kids.. SA Showjumping is a show-stopping act that always delivers.

Shepherd Zira said, “Most of us, especially people of color, we have no idea about horses or anything because this is just a sport for white people.”

It’s even more special to be a black mom, with my family experience the shift in South Africa; even more seeing black showjumpers represented too.

The health benefits of showjumping:

In the sport of show jumping, commonly referred to as equestrian jumping, a horse and rider must negotiate a series of barriers, such as walls, fences, and bodies of water. The activity has been demonstrated to offer a lot of health advantages for both horse and rider and involves both physical and mental conditioning.

High levels of physical condition are necessary for show jumpers because they must be able to control their horses’ movements and keep their balance when jumping. Regular riding can enhance flexibility, muscle strength, and cardiovascular fitness.
Show jumpers must be mentally healthy because they must be able to communicate with their horses clearly and make split-second judgments while navigating the course.

Riders that participate in the sport might improve their self-control, focus, and confidence.
Relieving tension: Show jumping can be a fantastic technique to reduce stress and enhance general mental health.

Physical exercise and outdoor time together can help lessen anxiety and depression.
Bonding: Since the horse and rider must cooperate to get through the course, show jumping fosters a special kind of relationship between them. Between horse and rider, this connection may result in better communication and trust.
