“To enjoy the glow of good health, you must exercise.” Gene Tunney

And glow they certainly do! Of course we’re talking about the founders of the popup gym – Letshego Zulu and Khethiwe Mlangeni.

“Founded in 2014, the popup gym promotes a healthy and active lifestyle by demonstrating that exercise training can take place anywhere, anytime and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Unique in its approach, the popup gym utilizes wireless earphones ‘silent disco’ in its exercise routines.” – Which on this day involved Zumba and strength training; and gave each participant a tailored experience.

Lishe was honored to be part of the popup gym’s women’s day event held at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton. Nothing beats two powerful and strong women, empowering women from all walks of life.

Scrumptious healthy bits were served at the event from delicious smoothies, to decadent fruit and healthy wraps; of course it wouldn’t be a special ladies day without gifts for all the women who attended and day filled with prizes being won by lucky winners.

But I think what made a lasting effect to the day was Letshego inspiring talk on her voyage to Kilimanjaro. A voyage was marked by tragedy, but definitely reminded me of the human spirit …mostly a woman spirit, a spirit that endures, is relentless and influential – that’s what Letshego reminded us of.

The popup gym is a non-exclusive, interactive and entertaining fitness and healthy living platform that is transformative; and is spreading like a wild fire – thank you to Letshego and Khethiwe. Make it a point to catch the next one, possibly in your area.
