Interview with Rick Laidlaw – Footwear Buyer Mr Price Sport: Questions:
- What do you think sets Mr Price Sport shoes apart from the rest?
Mr Price Sport offers one of the largest home brand labels in the country and we pride ourselves on developing quality products and ranges that offer great value for money. In doing so, we’re continuing to make sport and active living accessible to everyone, without hurting their wallet.
2. Which is the best running and training shoe in your opinion in the Mr Price Sport range?
For running, we have both ends of the budget spectrum, our higher price point styles as well as our entry-level styles. In our higher priced Maxed Elite range, I’d suggest the Marathon Trainer, which is perfect for longer runs, marathons and training. There’s also the Marathon Racer, which is ideal for race day, and basically any run up to marathon distance. And then there’s the Zeus which can take on training and races up to half marathon distances. On the more affordable end of our offering, there’s the Gravity range for those who are just getting started on their running journey. (Please note though, Mr Price Sport currently only offers neutral running shoes and don’t currently offer options for pronation or supination.)
For gym and studio training – again – we offer styles for every budget. At the higher-priced end for men, there’s the Maxed Dual Speckle, the Maxed Protégé and the Maxed Astra Bubble. For ladies, there’s the Maxed On Pointe and the Maxed Astra Bubble. For those budget beaters out there, the Maxed Nova range is perfect for both men and women.

When we’re at the footwear drawing board, there are many factors to consider when creating a quality shoe: it should protect the feet and the runner from injury. It should offer stability to the foot and should prevent skin damage and chaffing. It should also reduce potentially harmful impact as the foot strikes the ground again and again, while offering energy return and good cushioning. Most importantly, the shoe should be durable, well-made, and of course, look good!
4. What features make training shoes different from running sneakers and how does the Mr Price Sport range meet those separate needs?
A running shoe is built for heel-to-toe movement and the higher heel drop in running shoes is done to add support and cushioning. Training shoes are built for multi-directional movement, especially lateral movement. garlic harvesters in Pakistan Generally, a training shoe would have a flatter sole, which allows it to perform in a wider range of movements.
